I have been a compound tech for a couple of months. I was constantly inhaling drugs such as Progesterone, Testosterone.... I took a pregnancy test twice and they both came out positive. Do you think there was any chemicals that I could have ingested by accident that would give me a false-positive? I quit my job as soon as I found out incase I am pregnant and I didn't want to hurt the baby. I am excited to be pregnant but my first dr. appointment isn't for over a month. Thanks!

The only drug that effects pregnancy tests is Pergonal or something quite like that: I don't think you could inhale enough hormone to have the tests react to it.

Considering how many moms continue to take birth control pills/androgen treatments and Depo shots, I'd say you're probably okay. Still, if you're really worried, you can call your doctor's office and discuss your worries with his nurses. That's what they're there for.

A hpt does not look for progesterone or testosterone, it measures HCg, something totally different. We have the other two hormones in our body anyway. HCg is only present during a pregnancy or if you're undergoing certain treatments. Sounds like a positive test. Congrats!

There is a VERY VERY rare chance that you are not pregnant... If you read the directions, they clearly state that there is a good chance that there could be a false negative but a false positve rarely occurs. Inhaliants wouldn't have any impact on the outcome of your pregnancy test. Congrats on the pregnancy!

Was it the same brand pregnancy test? If you used the same brand it could have been a bad batch of tests, if you are worried it is not correct. Get a different brand of pregnancy test and see if it gives you the same results. If it says yes too then I would bet to say congrats on your pregnancy. =)

I would doubt it. Women on birth control dont get false positives on pregnancy tests as the tests do not test for estrogen/progesterone levels.

No, the test looks for HCG. You are pregnant. Congrats.
