There hasn't been for a long time, this President just made it blatently obvious, so that anyone(rational) could understand.

Yes. But there is little or no opportunity to express it.

And before painting any profession with too wide a brush, be it doctors, lawyers, plumbers or politicians, we should remember that these people come from our communities. They began as rich or poor, the greedy and the giving, good and bad. Think of them as varied as your neighbors... scary thought in itself.

Politics is a special case in that it plays to the worst in all of us. So you ran on a ticket supporting women's rights? Fine. Vote with the other congressmen on their issues, and they'll vote your way, later on. Except you disagree with them. You negotiate. And the lobbyists and corporations will pay to have their say. You choose between your honor, and accomplishing anything for your constituents.

Politics doesn't have to be a whorehouse, but it surely is a daily challenge to ANYONE'S ethics. Would you retain your sense of right and wrong in that atmosphere? I don't know if I could.

As for Bush, he has lowered the bar not only for America but for the whole world. Shameful. If it weren't for Blair's speaking ability, I would have thought the West had lost all hope of decent leadership. Politics aside, if you are unable to think and speak coherently, and make your points for those who are looking to you, how can you hope to lead them anywhere?

I don't believe anyone can govern this country and make all the people happy. Honor comes from those who give it. If we rip our leaders apart because we don't agree with their politics, then forget honor. We are as divided on the issues as we've ever been. Years ago there weren't as many issues. Morality issues such as abortion, euthanasia, stem cell and the host of others, were not considered even for discussion except by a handful of weirdos. Now those issues have become standard protocol for those who think of themselves as compassionate. We're so turned upside down now that we can even tell the difference between what is right and wrong. End result, bashing leaders who don't agree with your moral issues. This country has lost it's direction. Wrong is now right and vice versa.

Corporations do not want honor in politics

Corporations want the people to feel the government is a negative factor in their lives

Corporate owned politicians make sure the government is a negative factor in the lives of ordinary Americans

The people then do not participate in their own government

Allowing corporations to further expand their power in Washington DC and keep our government functioning as a corporate hammer against the very people the politicians are supposed to represent

It's on purpose

I find that at the local level there seems to be plenty of politicians trying to help the people. As for president bush, I don't see how incompetence and honor are related.

Sad thing that he was our best choice the last two elections, I mean come on, Gore, Kerry?

And now H. Clinton? Between those four (including Bush) you would have a hard time running an Ice Cream stand.

I hope we get some decent choices, I don't care from which party.

Peace!

Man, where have you been all your life? If these would have been the cowboy days, you'd never know who shot you first on the back. Good enough, yes? And yes, things are way out of hand.

you mean there was honor?
compared to our history, the current level of ad homminem attacks and dirty tricks is down right pleasant....even benignly humourous!! tis an old trick to distract from issues...if it is republican vote it out...if it is a democrat...vote against. Vote for someone who says "oh crap! please not me!!"
