It's actually LESS hygenic to shave! Bacteria and fungus love moist areas, and sweat evaporates much more slowly if you have no hair in your crotch. (Hair lets air circulate in the area.) You're likely to get redness and zits and smell really bad down there if you decide to shave. Serious infections are less common but possible. So shave once if you must to get it out of your system, but it's really not clean or healthy to do so. It LOOKS clean, but it's actually not.

Shaving is probably more beneficial to some people because the lack of hair makes it a little cleaner. Bacteria collects in warm, hairy and sweaty places. The more hair the easier it is for bacteria to hide. So in that sense, shaving is cleaner.
However, if you have sensitive skin or are prone to skin irritation, shaving might not be the best thing for you because it can cause razor bumps or ingrown hairs and skin irritation. For people like that, simple trimming is probably the best option.
When it comes to preference, that is really up to individual opinion. Some girls like it shaved, some like it trimmed, but fery few like it natural (forrest) down there. For me, skin on skin contact feels the best. I like girls that shave so I would do the same for them.

I agree, shaving looks cleaner than it actually is, we were designed with hair for a reason. Personally I don't like shaving it looks kind of creepy not to mention it can be itchy and prickly for both partners. But hey it works for some, and what does your gf think? Trimming is good IMHO.

It will probably only make a difference to anyone who's going to see your genital area. If you like it like that, then cool; shave it! Remember it's your body. I like it nice and trim down there too.
As far as the health issues, the chance of getting bacteria from sweat is less, and I would suppose the chance that you will get crabs is less.

I don't think it matters one way or another. If you don't shave but shower regularly, and keep everything clean you just as sanitary as if you were to shave. I personally don't care if a guy shaves or not, its natural not to, but some prefer shaving for looks.
