I was raised from birth by my aunt and uncle in Prentiss, Mississippi and all of my records have their surname listed as my last name. I am having some difficulties now and need a corrected birth certificate with their names on it. Someone please help me with the information so that I may become legal?

How old are you? I ask, because it may be easier to stick with the name on your bc if your just starting out.

Your more than likely your talking about High School Diploma and all the others show your Aunt & Uncles surname. You don't want your Mother & Fathers name on your Birth Certificate, It's going to get complicated because your and Aunt & Uncle did not ever adopt you. So your name is legally your Birth Certificate Name. Your right it will cause a lot of problems, really all you can do is take all this a Lawyer, if you don't have a lot of money , go to legal Services
at your Court House. Take all you have with you and they will have to get all this straightened out through court procedures.
if you don't want your Mother & Father name on your Certificate, which is different from all your records. They'll tell just what to do and just how to do this, it can be fixed but it is really a timely procedure to go through. If your Mother and Father would sign Adopition Papers to let you Aunt and Uncle adopt you even at this age , it would make everything a lot more simplier. Best of luck to you.

How can their surnames be on your birth certificate. You have to be adopted for that to happen! I would go to the town clerk where you were born, or the the Bureau of Vital Statistics in your state, which keeps copies of B Certs. Maybe they can tell you how it was changed.

Are you sure you weren't adopted and not just "raised"?

Put in a call to the County Clerks Office of the county you were born in. Usually will cost under $15 to get a corrected certificate. They can also tell you what you would need to bring with you so you can change it.

Not sure how you would go about getting their names on it. Call the Office of Vital Statistics and explain the situation to them. I am sure they will know what you need to do.
