The laws now exist in the form of 2 Bills The new Presidential directive and the Homeland security directive

That Bush has the responsibility (durring an emergency) to run all three branchs of government through the secratary of Homeland security - suspend elections - and ensure the continuation of constitutional government when the emergency has passed

-------------------------------

The definition of emergency is rather broad and open to interpratation as well

Nonetheless Bush has done it - the legal power to stay in office should an emergency occur it there -

Will he go or will he stay

I think he is setting things up for a takeover!

He isn't building 600 concentration camps and violating the constitution for nothing!

I really did wonder in 2004, when it looked for about 10 minutes like Kerry might win, whether we'd see tanks in the streets. Luckily, in 2008, the tide is so against Bush from even Republicans that the risk is reduced now - fact is, prez directive or no, the military still has to go along with it, and there is no lurking Curtis LeMay that I know of.

If the US Attorney investigations are run through the courts at an appropriate pace I believe Bush will be forced to resign. The corporate media is not covering it...but it's a huge story that already has proof of Rove-Bush at criminal meetings.

If the legal process is intentionally slowed down...

that's the only way I see Bush finishing his term

Isn't it sad the rest of the world knows what';s going in America...but the corporate media makes sure Americans don't know what's going on in America.

In my opinion you have alot of energy and perhaps some zeal but the information is flawed as it does not promote ideas or anything ?? But, if you feel Bush would ever leave his post I feel that will never happen. Alter election? What disaster are we looking at? Nov 2008 is our Presidential one. It will be on schedule. WE run a democracy here. Unless we are engaged at home that will not happen. Thanks.

I think in order to be president you have to be a bit of a control freak, However, Bush likes to push that to an extreme. This war should have been over a long time ago. I find it very interesting that he is dragging it out the way he is. Just long enough to make history, right.

I think the danger that he might declare an emergency, and declare martial law, and suspend elections, etc.....is a very real danger! I hope he does not choose to do this, but based on everything I have learned in the past few months, I can see it happening...and so can a lot of other people! *sm*

Don't be ridiculous. He is going to use the super secret presidential power act to become both the dictator and gain super human powers.

Why don't you google those bills you mention and see if you can find a single government sponsored web site that backs you up. Or better yet, don't waste your time cause the bills you speak of don't exist.

Those directives won't entitle Bush to stay in office.

Not, mind you, that I'd put t past him. But if he even looks like he's going to try it, Congress will impeach--and convict-him. And don't kid yourself about the GOP bailing him out--party loyalty doesn't go that far, even for the Republicans.

The President has no reason to do this, an emergency means some major invasion of the US or international crisis. The President is following all the laws and intends to turn over the office to the next elected president in 2009. Do not create more conspiracy theories.

Well, as a well armed conservative, i would take up arms against the government. Most of us would. That is the whole reason we have the second amendment.

Bush like Regan goes by the rules and all the posturing by left wing hate mongers only show their total lack of reality. He will leave his office and not take the furniture unlike the Clinton's.
