I just bought her 4 days ago.
The person at the pet shop said to give her all the stop she needed because she was a baby rabbit.
She was acting so normal at day time.
But at night time she would just sit there in a corner for hours and do nothing.

When i went to check her cage this morning she was dead.
With her eyes wide open. I heard her alll night long drinking water and stuff.

Do you know what couldve happened?

Since you said it was a baby rabbit, what could've happened was that it wasn't weaned yet, and what you could've have done was feed it goat milk. (They are substitutes) Maybe it was suffering from a sickness. (Rabbits tend to hide it) Also, the diet might not be good for it. Baby rabbits should not be fed with vegetables until 12 weeks old, one at a time. What were the EXACT foods you were giving it to?

(You can mail me.)

PS: I'm very sorry for your loss.

PPS: Just noticed the answer above the person above me is similiar to what I said.

How old was the rabbit?

By giving her all of the "stop" or I'm assuming "stuff" she needed, did you give her grass and veggies and treats and stuff like that?

Young rabbits are very prone to stress, which can be cause by moving it, a change of feed, a change of water, and changes in temperature among other things. That stress can make them go of their feed and die very easily, that is why it is not a good idea to get a rabbit that is real young.

Also, young rabbits are also more prone to diahrrea than older rabbits, especially if they are given greens such as grass, vegetables, fruits, etc. It's not a good idea to give a rabbit green grass, vegetables, or fruits. Those can give the rabbit diahrrea especially if the rabbit is young. Diahrrea is th # 1 killer of domestic rabbits.

Normally, it is best to get the same type and brand of feed as the person you bought the rabbit from so at least the feed doesn't change. The more change that the rabbit has to experience, the more chance it has of going off feed and getting sick. If I buy a rabbit I normally like to pick up a small ziplock bag of feed off them to feed the rabbit for the first few days.

It sounds like your rabbit was sick if it was just sitting there in the corner for hours doing nothing. Rabbits tend to do that when the are feeling bad. I would have checked the underside of the rabbit to see if it looked wet or poopy around it's rear end. If it did, it probably had diahrrea.

I'd recommend waiting till a rabbit is at least 55-70 days old if you are going to buy one.

My guess is your rabbit was way too young to be away from it's mother when it was sold to the pet store. Most pet stores like the babies to be around 4 weeks of age when they are still cute and cuddly. Some babies can't handle the stress of being in a store, and a new home, or new rabbit food. Or she could have been sick before you bought her. There really is no way to know for sure.

Most animals and people die with their eyes open, this isn't strange. It takes muscles to close your eyes, and when you die, all your muscles relax, so your eyes stay open. I raise rabbits, and all of mine that have died over the years have had their eyes open.

I am so sorry the bunny died. You can get very attached in 4 days. She may have just been too young to be sold. I've seen baby bunnies in a pet store that shouldn't have been weaned yet. And as other said, taking her home may have been just too much of a shock. Rabbit can truely be "scared to death", through no fault of yours. Or it could have been a digestive problem. They are so prone to enteritis and stasis (in the gut). I would definately take the bunny back to the pet store and I would NOT get another one from them. (If that one had a disease, they could all have it...). Look for a nice rescue or animal shelter in your area or contact a local rabbit breeder. You will get a much healthier animal. Please make sure you clean the cage, food dish, water bowl, etc. really well... with bleach and lots of water, before you put another rabbit in there.
My sympathy to you... but don't give up, get another bunny if you can.

1st of all sorry to hear about your rabbit!!!

My niece had a rabbit and around this time ( summer time ) is when it died too. More then like it was too hot for the rabbit. They have such a small brain and their needing to keep cool throught out the summer! Even if it was in the house, there should of been a fan directly at the buuny in low fan.
I would see if you can go and call the pet show to see about refunding you or giving you another rabbit since you barely got it!!! asap!

I think all the other answers have covered potential causes of death..
but I just wanted to say I don't know what planet they are on, but you can not just walk into a pet store with a dead animal and "ask for a refund"

I'm sorry it happened. Go back to the pet store and ask them for advice, they will be able to tell you what might have happened, and how often this kind of thing happens (hopefully, if they are professional) and they will tell you how to prevent it happening in future (if it was something preventable)

Sometimes these things happen though, and it doesn't mean that you or the pet shop did anything wrong.

Pet shops should not sell baby rabbits so soon after they are born. Your bunny probably has stress when it was taken from its mother and then again when you got her. Rabbits are prey animals and hide ailments. There was probably something wrong with her when you got her probably related to being taken from her mother too soon. I'm sorry for your loss. When you can, get a new bunny. You can adopt older bunnies from shelters and they have been checked by a vet. They are healthy and make great pets. We have had 4 bunnies and they were all adopted.

rabbits are sensitive to heat, so if the temperature was above 90 degrees that might've been the case. your rabbit would obviously be drinking alot of water if it was hot... and rabbits need attention too. if i leave mine unattended or hold it less than a few times a day, it'll get bored and nibble on things. you rabbit may have found something toxic or harmful and consumed some of it.

Probably something digestive, maybe a problem with her stomach, since you mentioned she was drinking water all night long. I don't understand what you mean "all the stop she needed", but I would definitely take her back to the store you got her at. You are at least entitled to a refund after only 4 days. That's a bummer.

Are you sure she's dead? I know it's a funny question, but rabbits play dead when they're scared.

Also, stress and being handled too much, or abrupt changes in the temperature of her cage could have sent her into shock, ending in death.

Or, she could've had a disease or ailment from when you bought her.
