The front runners, like Hillary, Obama, Rudy, etc. have no reason to be desperate. They're on top of it. But McCain is falling further behind every day, he's desperate. So is Edwards, who sees his chances diminishing with every poll out there. Especially the latest one that has Hillary moving ahead of Giuliani and the rest of them in the general election polls. The second and third tier candidates probably aren't desperate, I think they knew going in they didn't really have a chance - Paul, Richardson, Gravel, etc. So right now it seems as though it's Edwards and McCain who are the most desperate and not doing as well as they thought they would.

For me it is a tie between Hillary Clinton for her wanting to "chat with Hillary" and her now conversational speaking style.... and John McCain for now conveniently finding the mean, spiteful God of Jerry Falwell and the Christian Right.

Honorable Mentions: Romney for not standing up for his earlier decisions... Obama for trying to act that he is "above" attacking his rivals.... and Giulliani for now playing the Fear Card

I'd have to say McCain. He's pretty much sold out his basic principals. he's followed by Romney, who probably doesn't have any to sell.
