about someones political stance? I asked a previous question asking about the upside to being in iraq? I was told to stop being a lberal and to think for myself. I'm 46 and have voted republican since the age of 18, that hardly qualifies me as a liberal, and the fact that I am reflecting on the wisdom of the policies of my own party hardly implies that I do not think for myself.

I wish people would just answer the questions, it IS really counterproductive to have to make put down comments. Whether they agree with you or not. Most people's beliiefs are not strictly down party lines so it is really unfair to make assumptions.

Heck, I respect your opinions, even if I don't always agree with your position, but sometimes I do and I am a so-called liberal, you are still on my friends list.

That is because alot of the people on YA are not very open minded.

They think that in order for one to be Conservative or Republican, they have to follow the Bush admin. agenda 100%, narrowminded. Any type of dissent with these people is a sign of one being Liberal, or my favorite, "Communist". I've seen this first hand. I'm neither a Democrat nor a Republican (I dislike both equally) however I've been called a Democrat and a Communist-Liberal dozens of times because I posted something that goes against the Bush administrations policies.

EDIT: I've actually seen this in other non-politics sections of YA.

For example, in the "Food" categories, whenever someone mentions that they're on a vegetarian diet or that they eat tofu, (believe or not) automatically they're called liberal by someone.

Or in the automotive section: If someone is asking for reviews for hybrid cars or eco-friendly cars, they get called liberal as well.

You are either with us liberals or; you are with them! LOL! Just kidding! You are, of course, 100% correct to ask any questions you want; of ANY position taken by our government on ANY issue regardless of which party is in power. The fact that you think for yourself is refreshing and I respect you for it, however; I fear you are in the minority. Constituents of BOTH parties too often just pick someone they like or admire and follow blindly. I support John Edwards because it takes a big man to admit he was wrong. It takes a much bigger man to admit it on national television!!!!! Can we at least agree on that? Oh! And I DO accept e-mail!

The reason the neocons and their propagandists are losing support is that they have adopted and stuck to the “you’re either with us or against us” philosophy. They fail to realize that there are many shades of political thinking. Trying to force people to be either with them or the enemy, which they define as liberals, does not reflect what most Americans believe.

im with firefighter whenever anyone questions the governement your autmatically a liberal if conservatives are in power and vice versa. i guess its just because people dont want to accept the fact that not eveyrone in a particular party agrees with everyone else in said party. and if you dissent you must be a trader to the cause

That's typical idiots on Yahoo!

You are either a braindead assimilated bushbot, or you are a liberal.

Limbaugh, O'reilly, Malkin, and Coulter are to blame for this ignorance.

Real people are rarely ever on one side or the other on all issues. It's time to remove our collective heads from our azzes.
