Tai Pan Governing Structure?

I am starting an organization and I remember reading how the corporation in Tai Pan ran. I would like to model it after that. So if you know where in the book or where in the series; or you can just explain it to me that would be groovy. Thx!

hehe, that's not what I meant (the gang starting). Yes I'm talking about the books by Clavell. What I am talking about is that Tai Pan had sole authority. ?Compador? had x/5ths vote or something. when the Tai Pan died or was lost at see the board would vote etc. I'm actually trying to start a church and want a veto power. We've been meeting for a while and one of the board members had a nervous breakdown. I want to avoid the destruction of this organization by crazy people. I thought the Tai Pan structer would be a good one.

Are you talking about the lengthy book by James Clavell? I loved all of the books by him, long but they told a great story. Well, if you want to establish a structure like his, you will first need to buy into a major business and then to force everyone in the same business out. You will need to be ruthless, rob from some, kill others, and be opened to the fact that you might be killed as well. It's all about strength and ruthlessness and to some degree luck. You are basically starting a gang, and what you will need to do is to take a real good look at the gangs that exist now, how they operate, and you will need to be stronger and more ruthless than any of them ...
