I am one of those to whom you refer.

I support others for the nomination but if Rudy is the nominee I will be voting for Rudy....he is far better than the alternative (Democrat).

He is also going to have a very hard time with supporting abortion in substance if he were to try as a Republican. He would alienate his own support, and have quite a fight on his hands....so such is very unlikely.

Fred Thompson is going to get the nomination however. 8P

No, they won't. That's why it's important he doesn't win the Republican nomination. He won't just drive off the rightwing extremists, he'll drive off a lot of Republicans. Incidentally, the same thing would happen to the Democrats. If they ever nominated a pro abortion candidate, which will never happen in the Big Tent Dem Party, it would drive off all the leftwing extremist Atheist treehuggers.

I'm not answering your question, because it isn't addressed to me. But I do want to clarify something:

There is a difference in being pro-abortion or pro-life and thinking that the government has no place in the argument. Giuliani is not "pro-abortion." He is against the Federal government legislating on the issue. Any right winger that is for smaller, less invasive government should agree with that, regardless fo their stance on abortion.

Die hard pro-life Catholics held their noses and voted for Tom Ridge, a pro-choice Republican, in Pennsylvania twice by large margins. They also voted for Kay Baily Hutchinson in Texas by large margins and she is pro-choice.

i think people forget there are many issues for the social conservatives. Its not just about abortion. Giuliani might appeal to them in respects to his tough law and order approach.

Of course not... They are going to vote for Fred "TV" Thompson because he is white and christian and might not be a smart leader but plays one on TV...
