Pellets are best!! Mixed with some other food.

Yes they can have tuna it is often used to entice one to eat something.

They can also have beef, chicken, bugs and worms if you are willing to watch them eat them. I have mollies and occasionally I give them a live one as a treat.

They will eat melons, banana's, apples, berries, canalope, carrots duckweeds, romaine lettuce, green beans, corn, cabbage.

Stay away from spinach and broccoli.

Iceburg lettuce also has no value

My wife and I have been raising our red eared sliders for a long while now, and YES, they can eat tuna...tuna and other similar fish is exactly what those little turtle pellets from the pet store are made of. The only thing is that, like a dog or cat, you don't want to feed them all that "wet" food...too much of worms and fruit and tuna can mess up their digestive track...mix it up with pellets (I know they don't eat pellets in the wild, but they also die often in the wild) and save the tuna for special treats. (also, don't feed them tuna in their homes, take them out for feeding because it's really stinky and dirty.)
Also, really do an exact search on your specific kind of turtle...the more you know about the breed, the less likely you are to make them sick or not give them what they need. Some turtles love live food, others are terrified of them and can be attacked by small fish. A friend of ours had a turtle lose an eye to an angry guppy, so be careful.

1. You may want to rethink your diet from scratch. For example- they don't need and cannot really process fruit.

2. There is nothing wrong with tuna, other than the turtle probably won't eat it and it will make your tank messy.

3. Tuna is, like most other foods, good in some nutrients, low in others. A little tuna (if they eatit and you don't mind the mess) is fine as part of a balanced diet.

A smarter turtle diet for most pond turtles is:
- About 25-50% good turtle pellets
- Live or frozen/thawed 'fish foods' like krill, worms, shrimp, snails, small fish (especially rosy red mollies), and insects.
- Some 'human meats', like cooked chicken and beef heart (NO hot dogs, hamburger, or most red meats).
- Older turtles can have dark leafy greens, yellow-orange veggies, and edible water plants.

Any kind of canned meat meant for humans is probably a bad idea for your turtle because of how the meat is processed and packed. Some protien is important for box turtles (I am not as famiar with other turtles or tortoises, though I would guess that most varieties have some sort of protien in their diet), but it is generally a good idea to stick to protien sources they might otherwise find in their natural habitat, such as grubs, worms and insects. It's rather entertaining to watch a turtle hunt a cricket down. I had one box turtle that loved slugs. But the tuna would probably not agree with their digestive systems. It's quite possible your turtle just wouldn't eat it.

I don't know for sure that tuna would hurt your turtles, but I've never read anything recommending it. If it was my turtle, I'd leave him on his current diet and make myself a tuna sandwich. Better safe than sorry.

I wouldn't feed them the tuna, (especially if the turtles live under water because if they don't eat it, it will rot) because canned tuna may have preservatives in it that may harm your turtles. Make sure you always wash all the turtle's vegetables before you serve them.

yes but be careful to break down the tuna small enough for the turtle to eat and not choke.

Human tuna is probably not good as it contians a LOT of sodium. Fresh tuna fish would be ok
