My newborn(3 weeks old) has little white bumps all over his gums....I am not sure what they are? They look like little white head pimples? I have a doctors appointment scheduled for tomorrow morning, I was just wondering if anyone eles's baby had this, and what it was? Thanks! :)

These bumps are usually (normal) cysts, which are fluid-filled sacs and will soon go away on their own. Yellow-white spots may be present on the roof of your baby's mouth. These spots are known as "Epstein's pearls" and will also go away without special care.

When you do a search you will find this on many sites.
Congrats on the little one

I don't know what is is called now-a-days but that used to be called 'thrush' which happens to some infants that are sucking. Unknown on exact cause; but one explanation was milk sitting in mouth for lengthy time instead of swallowing and another explanation I had heard was from HARD sucking. Whatever the cause, listen to your doctor on advice to clear it up. If not treated, it grows worse.

If an older child or adult gets this (then it is definely with a different name), my dentist had told me to rinse twice with peroxide and spit out - - NEVER SWALLOW OR GIVE TO AN INFANT LIKE YOURS, then rinse thoroughly and spit 2-3 times day if possible & from 3 to 7 days. That worked.

it could be nothing, but it could be thrush.. and it can cause your child discomfort when you eat.. If you try to brush them off, they'll often bleed and do not go away. My son had this at his age, and was also followed by what i though was diaper rash, but was yiest infection.. But you never know, it could just be formula left over.

could be thrush..they need an anti fungal prescription to help clear it..if you breastfeed then you probably need treatment also but definitely go to the doctor
