I had read about a couple who spent all their savings trying to get pregnant with insemination (I don't remember why it was necessary). Anyway, they ran out of money after a number of attempts, and no baby.
They got a turkey baster and yes, you guess right used it themselves and it worked!

I haven't done it, but know women who have. If you are ovualting normally, likely you will get pregnant on your first round of insemination. Like any couple trying to concieve in the "normal" way, there is a chace that it may not happen the first time, even if the timing seems right. Don't get discouraged if this is the case, just try again. After the insemination is successful, the rest of the pregnancy is the same as anyother!!! Good luck

I just did an artificial insemination on 6/11. It wasn't painful, wasn't overly embarrassing. I went in and was out within 45 minutes, that's waiting time in the office to getting it done and waiting the 15 minutes to get up.
You will have to track your ovulation and call the specialist you choose that day to get an appointment.
All they do is put in the speculum to open the cervix, stick a small "catheter" in and basically shoot in the cleansed sperm with a syringe through the catheter.
I think the one thing that it has done is make me more emotional waiting to test! I can't wait and I'm a nervous wreck.
Any questions feel free to contact me.

I've been on 2 cycles of IUI and I'm starting my 3rd cycle at the end of the month. My doc gave me 100 mg of Clomid and 2 mg of Estrace this time. I'll also be doing a Novarel injection a few nights before the IUI procedure. I hope this time it'll be successful because my husband and I really want to start a family this year. Wish us luck!

I know women who have done this, but I personally have not. I would highly recommend going to Yahoo! Groups and finding a group for women doing this. It would be a great way to get other peoples ideas, opinions and experiences. This may be very helpful in helping you make your decision about this issue. :] Good luck! Hope that helps!
