i just got my macbook last week, and it has already connected to the wireless Internet that we have in our house. However, I wanted to know if there was a way to get Internet anywhere [like on a roadtrip], and if so, how? thanks!

If there's WiFi in the area where you are you'll be in good shape. Anywhere with an unprotected wireless connection will allow you to access the internet.

Now if you're heading somewhere and want to access the internet in the car or something, you'll have to contact Verizon, Sprint, or Cingular (At&T) and ask about a mobile broadband card.

Those cards will allow you to get a connection anywhere you go, although the provider will charge you a monthly fee much like a cell phone. Give one of those companies a call and find out the rates and speeds and availability in your area you're traveling to.

You can only get internet if there is a wireless connection somewhere that you can tap into (like a coffee shop, hotel, etc). A message should automatically pop up that your trusted wireless service is not available, and should the computer connect to the new wireless service. Just follow the prompts, and it will connect.

well, i don't think that there is anyway to bring your connection with you without paying extra. but if you are desperate for connection on your trip there is one thing that you could do. if you try to park your car right up next to house alot of the time you can feed off of their internet connection. it works
