Just want to know how to get in the door. I don't have prior experience and I work full time in the supply field. What kind of schooling should I be looking for? Where's a good place to get started?

Take accounting at a community college for 2 years. Some will give a transferable degree so if you decide to go into accounting instead you are half way there.
Take a job in a company doing anything in an office even answering the phones. Offer to help the bookkeeper with any chores they have for you from data entry to bank recs or filing.
This will make them want you to learn and when you change jobs you can put those skills on a resume.

A good background in Math is necessary. Different companies use different bookkeeping technics. I have used different ones when I did books for a grocery store, compared to the books I kept for a car dealership. You might want to get a job in an accountants office and learn the ropes slowly, learning different aspects of bookkeeping rather than jumping right in to do someone's books. Many people are not willing to train newcomers as they used to. There are many people out there that they can hire with degrees. A bookkeepers assistant also might get you some background knowledge. Good luck.
