Norton is a P.O.S. I have been infected with several things lately despite diligent updates and scans. Norton just didn't find them, even though they have the threats listed on the Symantec website. When you DO get infected and call on Tech Support, they charge you $100 to fix a problem that their software should have stopped in the first place. Their spyware program is worthless. I use Spybot S&D and have found hundreds of things over time that Norton was oblivious to. The latest Symantec joke was when I got hit with Smitfraud. Norton said it was blocked, but it wasn't-- it got in there and gave me nothing but headaches. Then the greedy effs charged me that much to clear it out!

Forget that-- if my hubby would get his head out of his navel, and get some REAL AV protection (or let me do it) we wouldnn't have this happen so much.

Try Spybot or Adaware to clear out the spyware/adware-- that may solve your problem. Then get some REAL AV software, run a scan and address any problems that show up following the directions for your product.

You need to do both. First update your antivirus run it and clean up any viruses you have. If your not running AV or your subscription has run out then update it or download AVG free version from www.Download.com.
Next use both spybot and adaware to remove spyware from your computer.
Be prepared You may not like the way it runs after cleaning it up. Depending on how long your system has been infected the viruses may have corrupted files. You may end up reformatting and restoring your hard drive

I downloaded Spyware Bot for $30 off of the internet and it quarantined and cleaned it right up! You can set it up to do a daily scan as well. I highly recommend it!

P.S. Norton absolutely sucks! Do not go with them because they do not get everything...
