Both are correct but it sounds better if you say since childhood or from the time I remember.

E.g.I love dogs since childhood or I love dogs from the time I was small or from the time I remember I have always loved dogs.

You can use either way as long as it is correct in context and stresses your idea or topic of the sentence.

The correct answer is, 'Since the time I was small'.

Either is correct.

"From the time I was small" has the feel of a longer distance, for me.

From the time I was small, I have always liked ice cream.

I have liked ice cream since I was small.

Avoid using "small" because it doesn't always equate with "young." The best choices are probably
"since I was young" or "since I was a child." You could also start with "ever since. . . ."

i would use from the time i was small or ever since i was small. saying just since i was small just doesn't sound right. makes it sound like it is just b/c you are short.

I Guess it shod be:
Since i was young/ a kid/ toddler....
Usage of the wrd small sounds a bit absurd...so preferably the word young/ a kid sounds apt., otherwise the construction of sentence is abs. fine.
