Why don't we allow the BBWAA and Veterans Committee to vote purely based on baseball qualifications. If a player qualifies by merit, the player is then contacted and told "congratulations you qualify for the hall of fame. If you want to be inducted however, we're going to need to need you to take a simple polygraph test." Then administer a polygraph asking such questions as "have you ever bet on baseball" or "to your knowledge have you ever used or been administered steroids". If they pass they're in, if not, they can come back next year and take the polygraph again (allowing for the rare false positives or inconclusives). If they die before they pass they're permanently disqualified. Point out to me why this is a bad idea.

Well, one major problem is that polygraph tests are not infallible.

Secondly, I think this is something they might go for in China, or the old USSR, but probably not in the US.

If you only care about baseball qualifications, let wikipedia decide. The HOF should be better than that.
