Go to your local vet and get Frontline for all of your pets. Also treat your entire home inside with bug bombs that state they will kill fleas, read the label. You may need to bomb more than once to break the life cycle of the flea, unless the bombs you buy also specify that they will kill flea eggs and larvae too. I would try to get the ones that do this. Outdoors treat your yard with a pesticide product such as Ortho MAX it comes in a red bottle and can be applied with a hose end sprayer. There are other products that come in granular form that are applied with a spreader and then you water the yard. Either way read your labels for pet safety. Usually once the product is dry it is safe for pets and children. Once you have done all of these things the frontline on your pets should prevent any further problem in the house. The outdoor treatments are typically applied once a month. If you are not sure what product to buy for indoor use ask the vet they should be able to recommend something and can educate you further on breaking the life cycle of the flea.

Possibly. If bombed properly, all of the fleas will be removed from your home. The problem is, you have to remember that fleas live and breed of humans, pets, clothing and many other things. So, before reentering your home, you need to wash everything which was not in the house at the time of the bombing, give your pet (and yourself!) a flea bath. Overlooking anything opens the possibility of having fleas re invade. It is, usually the best option though.

do you have animals? you can also bring them in on your clothes. if you have animals wash them in ivory soap. see your vet about a pill called cap star that will kill every tick and flea in 24-48 hrs. then put frontline on them. when you vaccume replace the bag then and get it out of your house. the best thing to kill them in the house is in a purple can made by raid. it works had this problem before myself.

Given that you didn't say where you live...

Call your local Terminex shop. If you're unshure of the reliability of any of your local exterminators, call the BBB and start inquiring. If you come across anyone with serious complaints, avoid them.
