I like the idea, but America is really vindictive. I'm not sure it would work with a majority of the population. I think for some it would work very well. Some people just need that closure. But in how many cases can you get the offendee and the offender in the same room to talk about it. I'm just not convinced. I'd need to see some study cases and positive stories. I just think Americans want revenge more than they want forgiveness.

Restorative justice is the idea that justice is the wrongdoer making the victim "whole" - that is, restoring him (or her) to the position they would have been in had the wrong not been committed.

I think that it could work to some extent in the United States. However, there are many who believe that in addition to making the victim whole, a wrongdoer should be punished. Therefore, I think that restorative justice has its limits as a guiding philosophy of the American justice system.
