Growing up everytime I got a scrap my mom would turn instant hypocondriac and take me to the hospital saying I need stitches. Now as a grown up I constantly feel like I'm dying and that something is always wrong with me. I really do hurt but is my brain causing it? How can I stop this? It's not fair to the people around me...if I was them I would be going nuts! I get so worked up over medical problems I could have I make myself want to cry. I just want to enjoy life. I think my main problem is I don't know how to take care of me health wise. Money and lie I'm good....when it comes to health and checkups that we need in our lives I'm clueless...therefore it leads me to thinking I'm dying(NOT LITERALLY PEOPLE!) Any ideas on what to do?

Take a Red Cross First Aid course. You'll learn the difference between things that require attention and those things aspirin, Neosporin and a band-aid will take care of.

Get yourself a medical dictionary or some nursing textbooks and educate yourself on injury/illness.

Atleast you know that it is a problem..and a problem you would like to fix. Not many people see themselves as having a problem. Good for you for stepping up and saying you'd like to do something about it.
Hypocondria probably usually develops from an exaggerated concern for health. If you're overly concerned about getting sick, then you may see symptoms where there are none, or you may exaggerate the importance of any symptoms you have.

In some cases, a hypocondriac may feel an upset stomach or headache and interpret these things as symptoms of something very serious when in fact they may just be a consequence of spicy food or poor sleep habits.

On the other hand, a hypocondriac may actually have no symptoms. But they may be so concerned about getting sick that they actually create symptoms. It's possible that the intense anxiety associated with fear of illness could bring on nausea or any number of other symptoms. In this case, they do have symptoms, but the symptoms don't mean what they think.

The most important thing to do if you are a hypocondriac is acknowledge it. And understand that you need to work on the psychological aspect of the problem more than any perceived physical symptoms.

Your mom definitely turned you into a Hypochondriac.
You're right, all of it is just mental. But it can be also due to stress, anxiety or even depression. It is a disorder.
If you want to overcome this, you have to take control of yourself.
The best thing to do is to read more about this disorder as well as depression or anxiety. Talk to your doctor and see what he says. Some of them will give you prescription pills, but beware cause some are them are addictive and when you stop using them, you will feel like you are really going to die.
What you can also do is take over the counter stress pills.
Here read this first and then do your own research, I am sure it will help you understand this disorder and control it.

First off you are probably acting like your Mom did as that is what she used to do with you. I would check with your local organizations and see if there is someone you can talk to about this. Take slow steps as well. One day at a time and try to think positive thoughts and talk to someone about your issues. Good luck...

Here's one way of trying to deal with it: a fairly recent study recently revealed that people who get check-ups once every five years live just as long as people who get much more frequent check-ups. So, another words, running to the dr. every time you feel an ache or pain doesn't help anyway!!! Just try to eat right and exercise, don't smoke, and try to relax and enjoy life.
