Listen to the RN...she is the only one who answered correctly. A tetanus shot right now will not help you for stepping on the nail 4 days ago. It would be good for the future. For right now you need to focus on the signs and symptoms of tenany. The symptoms are often jaw or neck stiffness, difficulty swallowing, and irritability. There may be pain or tingling where the tetanus bacteria entered, followed by spasticity of nearby muscles. If you notice any of these symptoms in the next 10 days then go to the ER immediately.

You would be wise to go get the shot now even though it happened Sunday so you don't have to worry about it if you step on something else in the near future. Just make a nurses appointment to get your shot and they will give it to you. Also be sure to keep your OWN immunization records up to date so that YOU know when you had your last shots.

I assume that you are referring to a Tetanus shot.
Ask the doctor to give you a booster shot because it's just about time anyways. Better safe than sorry.

If you don't trust your doctor, get a second opinion. Or, tell your doctor it is worrying you and you would feel better getting a tetanus shot.

for your current wound it is pretty much too late for a tetanus shot to do any good, you need to get them within 24 hours of the injury....but, since you are almost due, I would get another anyway.

what matters is how did you find the time to type this statement since you've stepped on a nail. There are higher priorities in your life now than taking the time to type on Yahoo!Answers.
