Space is the distance between any two points. When we refer to "space, the final frontier", we're speaking of the space between celestial bodies. Contrary to popular belief, there is no "space" beyond the farthest objects, because the farthest objects only appear far to us; if you were actually "on" the farthest objects, you'd see other objects and "space" would be the distance between you and them. If you "really" want to get technical, space is the true distance in "space-time"; the distance separating any two objects in a three dimensional universe where time is a consideration.

a volume filled with matter, acting as a vacuum. because we are constantly being spread apart by gravity and electromagnetism. THE UNIVERSE IS CONSTANTLY EXPANDING!!!!! LOL still based on theory not theorem. lol .... because you cant have nothing without something. say you have a vacuum and a tube and you suck out all the air in the tube by theory you still have anti-matter having no mass so gives up to no force (F=ma) Newton's second law. to get a force you have to have mass assisted by acceleration. so we think in space the same because newton's 1st law states an object in motion stays in motion unless acted on by an opposing force. in space there is no aerodynamics to worry about and there is no friction.

When you hear someone say that space is an empty vacuum, they do not know what they are talking about.
Space is anything but empty.
Space is more like an ocean than a vacuum, a sea of light waves, subatomic particles and radio waves.
