That is a terrible stupid mistake to make. How many times have you gone to the grocery store, mall, or park and seen a baby with a pacifier taped to his mouth? NONE.

That should be your first clue. Second, if she felt the need to conceal (take out of his mouth before calling police) that should be yet another clue.

For all saying she should have leinancy because she was retarded or didn't meant to or was just ignorant...the law provides no exception based on ingnorance or stupidity. Thank god...or we'd have a lot more of them running loose!

If you're holding the pacifier, that's bad and yet, not so bad. At least, it's bad if you're driving. At least you can feel if something is wrong with the baby. Taping the pacifier to the baby's mouth is another matter completely. If she was even in the room, she would have HAD to know there's something wrong with the baby. Poor baby.

Sometimes when you're a parent, you just become desperate for some sleep. I have had periods in my life when I should not have been driving, cooking on a hot stove, using a sharp knife in the kitchen, etc. due to severe lack of sleep. But life doesn't stop because you're tired, especially when you have kids.

I didn't become a mom till I was in my 30's, and both of our boys were very wanted and planned for. There's no way to know what the girl in the news story was thinking, how tired or scared she was, how desperate and sleep-deprived. It's a horrible thing to happen, I feel so sad for the baby and the mom. She was just too young to be a mom in the first place, and unfortunately, it happens all too often these days.

I will never judge anyone in news stories or anywhere else unless I have the whole story or I was there to see it happen. You never know when it might happen to you.

wow, i don't know, this is horrible, if the baby wasn't keeping the pacifier then he didn't want it! Some people are stupid, really, of couse it would hurt him! The poor thing couldn't breath! She deserves what she is getting. She should get more.

I don't care if this woman was 19 or 40, what made her think to do something like that???? It should be mandatory for teenage mothers and fathers to go to parenting classes to deal with situations like this.
