For instance, if there are 5 suicide bombings in Baghdad that kill 100 people & there are pictures of all the carnage is that false reporting or should the media not show those things because it makes Bush look bad & turns more of the US public against the war in Iraq?

Who cares about Bush or the War. This isnt big brother country. this is a free country. People need to know the truth because ideally people are the ones with power and therefeore must be informed the best. Why wouldnt there be bombing every day? We are fighting by latest estimates a good several percent of a country which in total likes the freedomfighters much more than the occupires. You know what they should do? Put cameras on the helmets of the soldiers who have to fight there and then broadcast it a week later when it doesnt matter any more so people can see what a mess it is. That is liberty. That is what this country is about. We arent babies who need to be sheltered from the war. we are the leaders who must make the tough calls both on ellection day and every day. I may not agree with the idea of popular democracy because i dont think most people are qualified to lead anything, particularly due to lack of real information, but it is an inspiring idealistic form of governement and it should be respected and supported for that. which means more info, more media, more truth, less caring about president, more caring about troops.

Hope this helps
D

No the media does not make anything up to discredit the current administration. FoxNews shows stories with a conserviative angle other news and media outlets don't. Iraq is a mess and its the fault and ignorance of the Bush Administration. The amount of money spent in Iraq is enough to make every citizen in the US a millionaire. We are one of the richest countries, with a horrible poverty problem.

It's not that they shouldn't report it, it's the spin they put on it. For instance, 5 suicide bombers means these people are committing suicide! That's because they're very depressed that they are losing. As Dick Cheney explained, they're in the last throes of the insurgency, as they have been for the last, what, 18 months or so? Not so long as far as throes go. Some throes can go for years and years. The damn liberal media just won't tell you that. Plus, every suicide bomber is one less insurgent that our guys have to kill. We're letting them kill themselves there so they we won't have to let them kill themselves here. Besides, since when do Americans want a free press to report the truth to them? It's not like it's enshrined in our Constitution or anything.

And hey, why don't they show us painting their schools? We certainly show American schools getting painted every day on our nightly news, right after the murders and rapes are out of the way. Schools should out press releases every time they get a fresh coat of paint! Painting a school beats 100 dead civilians any day.

No I think what the Republicans are mad about is they feel that evrytime the media reports a car bomb has killed 100 innocent Iraqis, they should have to show another news item where we spent time painting an Iraqi school.

Its kinda like a local news station reporting that a devistating tornado destroyed 150 homes and took 300 lives, but hey, the bright side is that Mr Smith saved that $300 he was gonna spend to have that ole tree cut down.

Why don't you go to Iraq and see for yourself? Or talk to some the people who've served, and seen it firsthand. I work at a bar about a mile from a naval base, most of the ones I meet don't like to talk about it at all, and I never ask..but the ones who do have some interesting stories.

My dad says it just like VietNam....All we need now is another JANE FONDA wanna-be starlet, to go over and be filmed greeting, shaking hands and sharing humas with Al Queda troops.

It's the truth.

We hate Bush because he is killing our children.

Only a Neocon would think that this truth should be suppressed.

They don't make it up, but they tell us far more than we need to know.
