If so does it take you out of your "comfort zone" ?

Yes, I swim in the Atlantic Ocean all the time. I'm just savvy about how I do it! I watch conditions, fish schooling, etc... I've been swimming for well over 15-years and have never come in contact with anything more dangerous than a jellyfish!

It all depends on where I am at, the time of year and what is going on in the area.

For example I was at a beach in Mexico 8 years ago where the night before there was a huge storm. The storm had blown in Portuguese-Man-o-Wars and to boot the storm had kicked up enough silt that the water was cloudy. Of course due to this I did not go in.

Overall lakes are not the problems, it is more the oceans you have to worry about.

If a body of water takes me out of my comfort zone that tells me that something is not right... thus I will not go in.

I'd rather not see below than be able to see.

I went to the great barrier reef. Next to the boat was a 13metre drop straight down. It was soo dark and freaky. I swam as fast as my lil legs could take me until i reached the coral.

At the beach and stuff i'm fine. But I can't swim well so I only ever go as far as I can stand - A mermaid shark could still get me - But as long as i'm touching its okay. I'm more worried about drowning than being eaten.

Well swimming in a inland lakes does not make me nervous but on the other hand swimming in the ocean or sea, I think I would be a little apprehensive. You never know I might meet a SHARK. ekk

Yep, do it all the time... except for that summer of the movie 'Jaws'... I wasn't very old (12) and then even swimming at the lake freaked me out... logic of 'no fresh water sharks' did not help.

Peace

nope not at all...I actually prefer it. I hate swimming in pools. I like being able to jump off the side of the boat into 40 feet of water and just float around. Pools are no fun.
