I will be on my period during my opperation in a few weeks. I dont know what to do as I will be unable to change a tampon in time but my periods are to heavy to not wear one. Any ideas as I cant tell the doc as my mum comes with me to the appointments and we dont talk about this kind of thing. Really appreciate help.

mention it the nurses before you go down for your op and take some towels with you. they will have seen this thing before. dont worry. i woke up in bed after an operation and a pad was already in place as i had started my period.

Dont worry hun the doctors and nurses are used to this kind of thing, if i was you i would let your doctor or nurse know that you are on your period because sometimes when you have an operation they place a tube called a catheter in your bladder to drain away urine and if you have a tampon in and they dont know it could cause problems. But if you let them know they will sort you out, last time i had an operation i woke up and they had already put a sanitary towel there so dont worry.

Good luck with the op, you'll be fine! x

Before, during and after operations doctors and nurses are prepared for EVERYTHING. No need to worry about that at all. To put your mind at rest you can tell the doctor or nurse immediately before the operation, or you can tell a nurse beforehand when your mother is not present. In any event there is absolutely no cause for worry, none at all, the nurses and doctors will take care of everything, believe me. Especially in a hospital there is NOTHING to be ashamed of, we are there to help. 15 years of experience in Operations and Hospital duties (heavy periods are quite common by the way) back me up!

Just wear a sanitary towel - if you explain to the nurse before you go down to theatre, they'll let you keep your knickers on (usually they make you take off everything and just have a theatre gown on). And don't worry about it, in the medical profession they deal with this kind of stuff all the time. When I had a laparoscopy I came round with a really thick sanitary pad between my legs (I'm not sure why, because I wasn't bleeding or anything) but honestly, they won't be bothered by it at all.

tell your mum that you will be expecting your period on the day of your surgery, and then tell your doctor the next time you visit. Your pre-op appointment would be the best time.

i'm sure your doc. would be willing to give you one of those really huge uncomfortable looking rectangle hospital pads to soak up the blood if you do have your period that day while you're under.

You need to ask the doctor. You could even ask a nurse over the phone then your mom won't know. You can probably just wear a tampon during the surgery, though. But first, call the doctor and/or nurse.

tell the doctor before he/she starts and then also tell your mom if she is going to be in the room. If not the doctor won't mind if a little blood gets on the table HOPE I HELPED ♥ ALWAYS and good luck with your operation!

Just change it right before the operation. and wear a super pad just incase the surgery goes a little longer then planned.

they gained't decrease your knickers off to get on your bone - you will bypass into the op merely wearing a gown! merely tell the nurse once you get there. they are able to have a fashion of handling those issues.
