The days of a debt collector tracking you down are not much in vogue today, it's a lot easier and more efficient for a debt collect to use some systematic, electronic means to collect or restrict your financial movement..

Such as ... a debt collector to seek wage garnishment, freeze your bank accounts, or otherwise place a tag on your credit rating , any one of these or a combination of them will effectively restrict your ability to make new income, unless you decide to work in an all cash business, without any banking or other traditional monetary means..

It's up to the creditor or the owner of the debt if it has been sold. Generally, it has to be worth the expense of collecting, unless the debt specifically authorizes collecting attorney and legal fees to collect. Then it depends on how much the debtor can pay.

Most of your financial information is available to anyone who is a member of one of the major credit information bureaus, including your address. If you move and do not change your address with the postal authorities, the motor vehicles, etc., and do not apply for new credit, you may escape notice for a while. If you use a debit or credit card, you will leave a trail that can be followed. It is very hard to go completely off the paper trail in modern society.

1 quid + their ask payment... so it depends on what return of total outstanding the creditor wants returned.
