I have tried a scrub brush while shampooing her hair, and also tried putting olive oil through it and brushing it out ( I heard about doing that from a book) Both of those didnt work. Any suggestions?

This will work... but you have to be patient.
Every time you give her a bath, wash her hair in dandriff shampoo. Put the dandriff shampoo on at the beginning of the bath. Leave it in as long as she is in the tub- let her play or whatever, but leave it in at least 5 minutes. Then rinse it off throughly. You have to be careful to NOT get it in her eyes. Then just comb her hair (don't scrub the flakes or pick at them). Then I sprayed on a little Johnson and Johnson light oil mist spray. If you can't find that use the regular baby oil, but not too much, just a light amount. Then leave it alone. Repeat as often as you bathe her. It will start to clear up. The worst thing you can do is scrub or pick at the flakes. Just let it go and it will clear up. This worked for my son- but it does take time. The main thing is leaving the shampoo in the hair. Good Luck!!

Keep doing what you are doing. There is not much else you can do. Shampooing often with a baby shampoo with conditioners and a soft baby brush or infants wash cloth to loosen the cradle cap. Put the olive oil on and leave for a few minutes, and gently rub the area. Do not scrub, gently rub to loosen flakes and remove with the fine tooth comb that usually comes with the baby's brush.

Here is the best thing to do. Get a regular comb with the teeth close together. Use regular conditioner that you already have at home. It will not harm the baby. Put the conditioner on her scalp, then using the comb, comb gently on the scalp to remove the build up. This may take more than on treatment. You don't want to irritate her to much in one sitting. Repeat until it is all gone, of course washing her hair with clean water, and rinsing her hair with clean water. This is the main reason why children get cradle cap- parents give their babies a bath, and wash their hair all in the same water that you use soap in , and rinse with.

Believe it or not, cradle cap is actually caused by an oily scalp buildup. Putting oil or anything oil-based on the scalp will make it worse.

The best thing to use is Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Shampoo. This will clear the oil from the scalp and folicles, and within a month or so of use it will solve the problem completely.

This happened to my daughter when she was under a year old all of the time, the doctor told me to buy some dandruff shampoo and an extra soft toothbrush and to scrub the dandruff shampoo in with the toothbrush and it will oosen it all up and scrub most of it away. He told me to be very very carful not to get it in her eyes though and if shes young enough and will tolerate it maybe put a washcloth over her eyes to be safe, or if shes older let her wear some swim goggles and make it fun for her. This was the only thing that worked for my daughter though.

there actually is no cure for craddle cap, it usually starts to clear up when they are about 7 months old upwards. my son had it to and i found dentinox cradle cap shampoo kept it unter crontrol! from my experience i found that olive oil made it worse! dont pick it off or scrub at it as this can cause infection under the scabs, its harmless and does not irritate your baby, it will clear up on its own!

Do not scrub your babies head, you will worsen the condition. all you need to do is wash w/ mild baby shampoo & rubbing it gently while washing, never comb or scratch the area, you should use a baby oil once a week as you dont want to clog the pores you will still see flakes but the problem w/ decrease over time if cared for properly. most babies have this problem and i found that a lot of creams and meds dont help, you have to have common sense when it comes to your baby, this is a tender area and cannot be quickly resolved w/ mistakes that will make it worse.....

good luck!!

I just used baby shampoo and GENTLY gave her scalp a good cleaning with my fingernails --- I did not scratch her head nor push on the soft spot, just scratching like a back scratch -- they loved it, cooed all the time and the craddle cap would eventually just fall off. May take a few times, so just keep working with it.

the worse thing u can do is pick or scrub at it. after the bath put baby oil (just a lil bit) on his/her hair and that will moisten it and it will decrease a bit. it will take more than one application though so don't expect results right after. Two or three times and u should see a difference.

My daughter had it too and I put baby oil on her scalp an hour or so before her tubby, washed her hair, then used a baby comb afterwards and over a period of time it cleared up.
