The baby is putting pressure on your bowel causing leakage. Try wiping with a moist towelette to prevent irritation and it should clear up after baby is born. Good Luck!

My husband is a doctor and although he's a general surgeon as a junior doc he deliver around 20 babies and of those 18 women had no control over their rectums and did poo during labour. The doctors don't think anything of it and is very normal unless you don't eat around labour! (btw the other 2 were C sections).

My advise is wash your self with a bottle every time you go to the toilet so there's no risk of infection especially to the baby. Thats probably the best way to deal with this issue to avoid any health concerns etc. All the best for the delivery!

Think its totally normal at your stage of pregnancy...like everyone else has said there is an enormous amount of pressure on your bowel . I also read that its normal to have bowel leakage as well as just your usual leaking of wee that some of us get. I guess it explains why so many women actually poo during labour. At 41 weeks though you cant have long left hey so goodluck and im sure your bowel control will return to normal once the pressure has gone. Goodluck x

Don't feel weird because I'mjust about 34 weeks and this is happening to me.. I think the baby dropped a few days ago and I've been having alot of pressure and I have wiped and bathed also and it is still there! It must be the pressure.

It's because with all the extra pressure in that area, stuff is contently getting pushed out. When you walk, laugh etc, etc. Even if you wipe properly!
That's why women get hemorrhoids while pregnant. Don't worry about it, it will go away shortly after giving birth.

Sounds as though your bowel is leaking as you wee, a loss of control of the bowel happens in the later stages of pregnancy due to the pressure of the baby on the bowel. You need to be careful when cleaning yourself as infection can travel upwards.
I would speak to your midwife for some advice.

are you sure its not a little bit of dark show ( bloody smear?) Your baby could also be compressing the bowl, dont worry its nothing to be ashamed of. But call and ask to speak to the nurse, They might want to check you since you are past due.

It sounds pretty normal to me. Have a word with your midwife. I always use moist tissues when going to no "2"'s, that might help x
