Wouldn't they have to wait until you had the baby anyway? Why do they need to do them when you're pregnant? Ugh. Can I refuse one?

It's not like they would do a leep while you are pregnant. My pap smears are always negative and I've been married for two years so obviously I dont' have any std's.

Yes obviously it tests for cervical cancer, that's what I meant when I said they wouldn't be able to do a leep while you were pregnant...

They can't do anything while you are pregnant. I went through the same thing. The doctor will check you every few months to make sure it doesn't get worse. They can't do anything early on in the pregnancy becaue it can cause you to miscarry. Later on in your pregnancy they can do a biopsy if the doctor gets concerned enough but they try to wait until the baby is born because even later on in your pregnancy it can cause you to go into preterm labor. I ended up having to have surgury when my son was 6 months old to remove the abnormalities.

I had an abnormal pap come back with my first pregnancy. They didn't wait for my son to be born to do anything about it. I had a biopsy of my cervix done. There were some risks but very slim. After the biopsy I did bleed some and pass some extra tissue from my cervix but it was nothing of concern. It was the same type of after effects that can happen after a pap.
The biopsy came back normal and most likely the results came back abnormal on the pap because my cervix was irritated for one reason or another.

I had an abnormal one come back (not an STD) and the only thing they had me do is come in and they looked at my cervix with a microscope (can't remember what the procedure is called). They charted where the abnormal cells were and to make sure there wasn't anything too bad that required an immediate biopsy. Now they have the info they need and if after my baby is born if I have another abnormal one they have the locations of the abnormal spots already to go in and scrape or biopsy.

interior the united kingdom they dont frequently do a 'pap' smear or a smear attempt as we call it for the period of being pregnant, and thats why! 9 cases out of 10 the outcomes will come returned odd with the aid of your hormones. Dont concern approximately it! If its thrush or a yeast an infection, they're very surely dealt with anyhow without hazards to your infant. good success!

They do the pap test to check for STD's and such and if your pap test comes back abnormal that has nothing to do with STD's.. that has to do with cells inside of you are abnormal meaning they have to check into it further to see if the cells could be something that can turn into cancer.. I have abnormal pap tests and they have to wait until pregnancy is done with so they can check into the cells more.

I had precancerous cells in my cervix's before I got pregnant and My doctor told me that they don't like to do any procedures while your pregnant unless its neccassary. Most of the abnormal paps that come back precanerous are result of the hpv virus. I would recamend having the hpv test done so u know what your dealing with. And i don't want you to get all worried but thats just what my ob dr. told me.

most likely they won't be able to do anything. Pap smear can detect if you have cervical cancer not only std.

No, they would want to treat what was going on so it didn't hurt the baby.
