That's all we have... in most elections, and certainly the major ones, the candidates are populated by the wealthy (that is not so bad, it is just that we rarely have any variety of people trying to run) and they are always represented by a major political party. They are mainly dependent on campaign funds by corporations and lobbies. These corporations and lobbies expect certain votes or legislature for their money... The candidates have to legislate for their donors or they will never get these major contributions again.

To get rid of the "douchbags", we have to have campaign reform. We have to curb group contributions so the government can work for the people again.

BTW, this is not a Republican or Democrat problem. Both parties accept these type of contributions. I find it funny when a lot of people on here talk about Lib vs. Con and how the world would be different if the other did not exist... in the end, the parties are not as commited to Liberal or Conservative ideaology as much as they commit to their major donors.

If you're wondering why people keep voting vote Democratic and Republican candidates, it's often because they're the ones with all the money, publicity, and power. Some people try voting for third-party candidates, because they see them as an alternative, but the problem with that is that since the third parties don't have much money, they don't have much publicity, either. If they don't have much publicity, they don't get many votes. If the third-party candidates don't stand much of a chance of getting elected, then that means more politics as usual. I think you get my drift.

Because neither party has offered any fresh douchebags to vote for lately. Its always the same recycled douchebags.

The only fresh face so far is Obama, and he seems to be a nice guy, but beware darkhorses, as we harken back to Jimmy Carter. You could end up with double-digit inflation, double-digit unemployment, recession and stagflation.

Oh, and lose a major shipping canal in Panama, and have an embassy taken hostage in Iran. Of course, lest we not forget.

Those who ignore history are doomed to relive it.

They believe all that the Politicians tell them.

Another thought, how do you know your vote is REALLY counted? You trust that someone will count your vote for your candidate. But how do you know that's what happens? Someone could take all the votes and toss them and then record them as they wanted. You'll never know. Who is the final group that says who is elected? A whole lot of Faith goes into every election, trusting the votes really go where they were intended.

P.S.
You know most of the Polititions are lawyers. We all know what lawyers are like, don't we.

Winston, you don't. By 2008, you will brainwashed into voting for Hillary, and she will pick Bill Richardson because he represents the SW and Hispanic vote, even though he is a crook....and Willy will be sleeping in the Whitehouse again for eight more years.

Sounds ridiculous and illogical, doesn't it.

Remember, you don't choose.

Good question. These guys seem to do what ever they want when they get into office because people don't hold them accountable. Too many people voting that do not have a clue what is going on.

People believe "my rep is okay it is the other ones that are douchebags and I can't do anything about them".

Because the people who do the loudest complaining are often too lazy to actually get out there and vote. It's easier to whine and complain than it is to actually get out there and do something about it.
