I could support the Republican party if they would just drop all the social conservative issues.

No they are not. I do believe most Democrats are, however, more toward the center than they were a decade or so ago. The shift to the right has taken place in both parties. The already right oriented Republican party has been influenced by a radical bunch too far to the right and they need to move more to the left so that they too are close to the center. It is from the center that most quality legislation, cooperation, and compromise happens. That is true democracy and representative government in action. We have not seen that in 8 or so years. It is time it returned. I think it is returning and we will see the difference at the conclusion of the elections next year.

No I'm a democrat I believe abortion should be legal but all should be done to lower its usage being pro-choice does not mean pro-abortion, I believe that all people should be given the right to marry, I believe that social security in an integral part of our society but certain changes do need to be made, illegal immigrants(learn to use spell check) need to be allowed to work and live in America (I don't know I guess I'm one of those people who takes those words on the side of the statue of liberty seriously "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"), and I also believe that health care should be provided to all inside the U. S. So no, I, like other democrats are not brainwashed to follow blindly, can the same be said about republicans?

If it weren't for two "wedge issues", the majority of Republicans are actually more like Democrats. If the Democratic party were to suddenly become pro-life and anti-gay, there would not be a Republican Party.

actually the modern republicans are turning smarter people off.
there is no clear cut division between parties on any of the issues. Republicans pander to people who make 7 digits a year or more, and the democrats try to make society better for all.
if you aren't a millionaire and are voting republican, you might as well be stabbing yourself in the back.

most people are moderate and use common sense. just because a person has certain social views does not mean their economic views should follow suit. take the political compass test, or give it to your friends.

No. Just the opposite. The majority of Republican supporters are actually Democrats but they are just too brainwashed and scared to vote in their own best interests.

No, the Democrats' problem isn't their brains, it's their spines. They're too scared to stand up for what's right. That day is done, and we're mad as hell, and we're not taking it anymore. There won't be another Republican President for a generation.
