I love science and weather watching but know it is getting weird and freaky, when i am watching the weather it is getting worse then it was. Do people think that the polar bears will come excintic from global warming or not? Does anyone know what global warming is doing to the earth?

Its doing lots of stuff. Its changing the climate. The ice caps are melting, oceans are rising, weather is getting more severe. As things continue, agriculture will shift, water will become more polluted, tropical diseases will have a bigger range. So we will have less land to live on and grow crops on and less clean water to drink and more incidents or tropical disease all for a human population that's INcreasing.

The real problem is that we can't do anything to stop the climate change. We might not be helping it with pollution but its largely a natural cycle and that's what the planet does. However, now there's a huge industrial human population on the planet. What people need to be doing instead of arguing over what's causing it is to start looking at ways to soften the blow of the inevitable problems we are going to face.

*****edit***** mistofolese, my senior thesis was on climate change and paleo climate. I do know what I'm talking about. I'm not on the Shell payroll or anybody's for that matter. Those scientists who say we are causing it.....why don't you check their pay stubs (EPA, Sierra Club?)? Please don't comment on things you know nothing about.

Global Warming is completely reality. It is a serious issue that has lead to higher temperatures, higher sea level, melting polar ice caps, and a lot more. In fact if Global Warming keeps up its rate average temperatures will increase by 10 degreees farienheit. It arrises from a variety of problems such as harmful emissions from cars and factories. That is why we are taking action by developing new cars that use green fuel such as hydrogen, ethonal, algae, electricity, and biodiesels, some new diesel engines even have a new exhaust treatment system. The emissions cause our ozone layer to deplete so that more of the suns ultraviolent will reach earth. Some of you may be thinking plants will get rid of the carbon dioxide, but that is wrong, since so many trees are being cut down CO2 can not be converted into oxygen fast enough. You can do many things to prolong Global Warming such as using energy efficient appliances. For you who don't believe Global Warming is reality you should really look into some research about it, because it is real whether you believe it or not.

First of all, let me qualify my answer. I have been studying the sciences since 1973. I have studied the sciences since the last quarter of the 20th century, so I think I know something about the scientific process. I've also belonged to SKYWARN with the National Weather Service since 2006 and am a certified storm spotter.

That said, global warming is indeed a reality and it is indeed influencing our weather and not for the better. I looked at carbon data from 1958 to the present, and the amount of carbon in our atmosphere is definitely on the way up over the past 40 years. I then ran a chart of global temperatures and overlaid them with the carbon data and there was a corresponding rise between carbon in our atmosphere and a rise(es) in temperature(s). Now I need to set up a website with references. The problem with global warming is that politicians are trying to be scientists and scientists are trying to be politicians. I wish you the best of luck in your study of weather.

Geolicious, Indeed! If you lived long enough, Miley, this 'global warming' band wagon is nothing but an extension of 'population explosion' in my day. Woof, what they said about that back then. Many of the weather patterns you see are natural albeit freaky when you only look at it at such a small scope(in time). And yes, any over population of any one species on earth will surely affect the balance of nature. That means us. Hopefully, we are 'intelligent' enough to do something about it collectively.

Global warming is a big load of BS..The temp has been fluctuating since like the 1945 and the chances of something big happening is VERY slim..Something the media nad scientists don't tell you is about the CO2 production...Nature emits 200 billion tons of CO2...Humans and animals olny emit 7 billion tons..thats a BIG difference

Uninformed people and their "natural cycles". Natural planet cycles operate on the timescales of millions of year, not hundreds. I guess it's just a coincidence that all this started with the dawn of the industrial revolution. If you don't have a PhD in climate science (and you're not on the Shell payroll) then your mindless "opinion" on Global Warming is worth nothing. We have professional scientists telling us that Global Warming is "certainly" caused by humans and everyone just sticks their heads in the sand. Please don't comment on things you know nothing about.
