Consider that it might be an allergy or sensitivity to a certain food. This happened with my daughter. She had never had any kind of diaper rash. Then when she was about 8 months old she started getting them. It turned out she was sensitive to the straw-berry applesauce and cranberry-applesauce baby foods we were giving her. Then when she was about 9 months old my mother in law gave her some red jello, that caused the rash too. She was sensitive to berries, berry-flavored things, and to one of the red food colorings used in a lot of commercial foods we buy. Try changes with her diet to see if that helps. Good luck.

It's often difficult to track down the source of a diaper rash. Changes in diet, teething, etc. do all seem to play some role.
My best advice is to get some large waterproof pads and let her play without a diaper for several hours a day so that her little bottom gets a break from all of that dampness. This worked wonders for my 3 when they were little.
Once the rash is healed, a good zinc containing ointment applied at each diaper change can be an effective moisture barrier to protect her delicate skin.

An ordinary nappy rash is very red, but not bright red. The baby feels well in general, only feeling a sting when they are wet, or dirty themselves. The redness does not reach into the folds of the skin and disappears a few days after giving their bottom some air, using zinc cream and frequently changing nappies. Get advice from a health visitor or doctor if the rash continues.
A fungal infection is bright red. Check if the baby is red in the folds of the skin as well. The fungus can grow there too. Your baby will get very upset and cry when you change their nappy. The ordinary advice such as airing the bottom and frequent nappy changes is often not enough to improve the condition. If zinc paste for children does not help, contact a doctor.
A bright red, very warm and swollen nappy rash may be caused by a bacterial infection. The baby may be in a bad mood and have a fever. If so, contact a doctor.

Hello new Mommie, The same thing happened to my son when he was a new born. I found that the wipes were too harsh for him- I had to change to sensitive skin wipes and even rinse them out before I used them. I also used this over the counter cream called Calmoseptine and it works beautifuly for diaper rash! Better than any other ointment. You have to ask for it from the pharmacist but you dont need a script. Be sure to use mild soap and water on the rash each night and keep the area dry...even keep the diaper off for a while and just lay a small towel over him. It could also be a yeast infection due to moisture and your pedi can get you a script (which you'll use more than once). Dont worry...the red blisters go away.

Yes, teething and a change of eating habits can contribute to diaper rash... Keep her as dry and comfortable as possible, also put some A and D ointment on her tush and if you can let her go w/o a diaper on and air out her tush.. Just put her on a blanket or something washable.. She also might have an allergic reaction to what she's been eating...Stick with giving her the same fruit/veggie for 3 or 4 feedings and see what's giving her the rash..Good luck...

One thing that i do that can help prevent diaper rash is to apply vaseline to the child's botom every time you change their diaper. By doing this it creates a barrier and keeps the baby cleaner. This in my opinion is better because they do not recommend using zinc oxide products continuously. This has worked well with my child.
Another thing that helps is to let your child air out for a little while each day. Lay your child on a towel with nothing on not even a diaper. The air helps dry out the rash and helps heal.
good luck

Babies often get rashes when teathing. It may mean her stomach is upset as well. I'm not sure why, but everything is more acidic when a baby is teathing.
Cut down on Juices and fruit. Tylenol will reduce the stomach fever. Play gentle music to soothe her nerves (it works!) and keep up the quick diaper changes but make sure she hasn't developed a reaction to the diaper. My kids were alergic to pampers but huggies and luvs were ok.

its not the diapers. its the teething. mum said that both me and sister just to have a bum rash and after a week a tooth used to come out. It used to be a sign for her that our teeth are coming out.

it could be due to a food allergy or yeast infection. Have the pedi check it out.
