I recently tried to read some of the writings of Spinoza....really tough going!! is there anyone who can recommend a 'beginner's" guide to Spinoza?

There is a book found at Barnes and Noble for $10.95
"A Theologico-Political Treatise A Political Treatise". The Introduction and translation is without equal and give a deep but understandable idea of what Spinoza is trying to say.

The one comment that I would make to keep in mind when studying Spinoza is that he believed that God was infinite (indlucing being part of Nature and us) and that we are part of Nature and God.

The word pantheism readily comes to mind. He was the first to express this on a universal level.

treated of Plato,Marx and Wittgenstein,with brilliant insight).
