I never heard anything about Bush hearing things.
But the clinical name for someone who literally hears voices is called Schitzophrenia.
Also, people can hear and see things if they are dehydrated or have sun stroke.
An example would be like if someone wandered into the desert, they could become sun-stroked and think they are talking to God, Budda, Dolphins, Aliens, their sister or whoever. In that case it is mainly due to dehydration and such.

Well, it's called schizophrenia, and it can manifest itself by either visual or auditory hallucinations.
The latter is "hearing voices", which is what happened to Bush---obviously---when he though "God" was speaking to him.
