Periods should not be painful. It is normally due to poor diet, with sugar being the biggest culprit, and coffee and alcohol not far behind.

When I met my partner she suffered real bad, this improved slightly when she went on the pill. About 18 months ago we made some adjustments to our diet, eliminating sugar and processed foods and introducing nutrient dense foods- home made broths, raw milk, kefir, butter, free range eggs, cod liver oil.

It took me about 6 months to convince her to give up the pill, her biggest concern being that the period pains would return. Well when she did, her next period snuck up on her. This has been the case for most cycles since, no pain, mild discomfort at most.

If you do suffer, try giving up sugar for a few months and see if there is any improvement. I don't just mean just stop adding it to your coffee, but anything that contains sugar, glucose, fructose, maltose, corn syrup, etc. gets the big A. It's hard, but worth it.

I don't care what they say but there's nothing worse than period pain in the world! I've had severe injuries in the past and I was in so much pain but it was still absolutely NOTHING compared to period pains. What causes it? Different things for different women. Some women are just born like that. A weak uterus that cannot cope with violent contractions that happen when you have period. You need these contractions to get rid of blood from the uterus. The other thing is clotting. If you can see clots in your menstrual blood then you have this problem too. The clots are too hard to release through the cervix. Those women who don't have these problems don't know what we are talking about, they haven't got a clue. All you can do is get yourself thoroughly checked out by your doctor (if needed, get yourself referred to a specialist), maybe you can be put on some strong medication for your period. You could also try all sorts of alternative remedies - buy I must admit they don't really work. I feel your pain and I wish you all the luck in beating this problem.

It is do with you hormone balance some suffer more than others

These are the issues due to hormone imbalance
http://www.ylcf.org/hormone-imbalance/06.htm

Miriam wrote her story in 1997 and revised it in 2002

As a preliminary do the on line hormone tests at www.hormoneprofile.com or www.johnleemd.com

If as I suspect they recommend you obtain hormones please have a saliva test done see www.npis.info or www.salivatest.com. A saliva test will check out active hormone levels something that blood tests do not.

If a hormone is suggested by the saliva test please take the dose suggested for you. Size 10 shoes are not twice as good if you have size 5 feet.

The WHO (World Health Organisation) uses saliva tests.

A transcript of a John Lee talk - this explains why for hormones a blood test is worthless..

Search the web for “natural progesterone period pain” and you will find pages read and carefully select.

I believe you'll find women with the same story who are now better. :-)

There is a list of doctors at www.npis.info are. They are aware of the benefits of natural progesterone they may be more helpful than your GP. You are about to educate your GP :-)

Natural progesterone means natural to humans i.e. identical to that produced by the human body.

For a good explanation of how vital natural progesterone is to humans see

and other pages on this site
or

Any progesterone you buy must be natural progesterone USP. USP means United States Pharmacopoeia. Wild yam is that Wild Yam the body will not convert it to progesterone.

Do not take fake progesterone/progestins manufactured by the drug companies they will be of NO benefit.

Hope this helps you

Hi, check out this link:
http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/health_advice/facts/menstruationpainful.htm
They are painful becos:
The natural pains are caused by contractions in the musculature of the uterus. The contractions are caused by the release of the body's prostaglandins, which are hormones produced by the lining of the womb.
