To do so safely by just taking Gaza one step at a time & just taking Hamas captive?
Or should they just fight Hamas from across border while this threatens innocent Gaza people. Since Hamas fights from behind innocent women too often (according to what I read Abbas say).

rightfielder, do you honestly believe Hamas has a right to be there. Especially when they teach their 5 yr olds to hate Israel & the West with their Micky Mouse?

Vampire, What about the fact that Hamas is a terrorist group that only has a goal to destroy Israel & hurt the West? The people voted them in & this is what they get. Hopefully the Gaza people have learned a big lesson.

right fielder, Isreal re occupying Gaza doesn't hurt the people of Gaza. It helps these people. Gaza should just be a state of Israel. Hamas has forced Fatah out of Gaza. So? There are scared civilians in Gaza with Hamas terrorizing the people in Gaza also. Hamas has isolated themselves & took over Gaza, so, Israel should retake this land by taking Hamas captive (not the Gaza civilians). Then we could send money into Gaza to help them also.

Israel HAS to erradicate Hamas. Take Gaza, take West bank, move Arabs out, pay them fat compensations.
Once that is done - there will be peace.

The question is rather complicated. There is no doubt that Gaza is part of the Land of Israel and belongs to the Jewish People. But it is so problematical because of its population, that when Egypt was occupying i t they did not let Gazans into Egypt, and after 1967 Egypt has never shown any interest in getting Gaza back. The only way to handle the situation is for Israel to defeat the Hamas overwhelmingly and then to disarm them totally and ensure that they will no longer threaten Israel. Or else give Gaza to Egypt with "no backsies." .

Nope...That region is already destabilized,Israel re occupying Gaza would only make things worst for everyone, for both Israel and Palestine...You make it sound so simple.Israel tried so many years to "take Hamas captive" and every time they failed. Why would it be any different? They would only end up killing more innocent Palestinians and this would lead to more Israelis killed...
As for Hamas ...it was ready to negotiate but Israel refused...
And Abbas is just a puppet of the Western countries who hasn't much to do with Palestinians. So I am not interested in what he says...The whole new government of Palestine is just a sick joke...
danish_lad "five Arab countries"?What are you talking about?Because when I said that Israel attacked THREE Arab countries I was refferring to the Six Day War...So I have absolutely no idea who's answers are you reading, but not mine..

It just seems a tad crazy to expect Israel to go marching back into the very bit of land that it was condemned for occupying!
As for these 'innocent Gaza people' you refer to: you mean the Palestinians, who voted for Hamas in the first place?
But I don't understand why Israel should now support the same people who are calling for her destruction. The Palestinians rejected the more moderate Fatah, who wanted peace talks with Israel, and they chose Hamas, who just wants to destroy Israel.
Re Tinkerbell: I too am now getting fed up with some of the blatant disinformation you keep using. In one response, you claimed that 'Israel invaded five Arab countries'. What the hell are you talking about?
It was the other way round, in fact, in the 1948 War of Independence, when Israel was simultaneously invaded by her surrounding Arab neighbours.
So Tinkerbell, please just get your info accurate, because until you do, you're not contributing intelligently to this debate.

If Israel can find a way to stop the rockets from Gaza then they should avoid going in at all costs.
The price of reoccupying Gaza will be eminence, not only in the cost of lives on both sides but in the damage it will do to those living in Gaza.
If lets say Hamas agrees not to attack Israel in return for Gas and Electricity then Israel should not bother them. The people of Gaza elected Hamas. Let them "enjoy" their democratically elected government

For years, the entire world has screamed in anger at Israel and accused her of 'illegally occupying' Gaza.
Now, because the Palestinians aren't happy with the group they voted for - Hamas - suddenly everyone wants Israel to step in and rescue the situation!
Talk about hypocrisy.
Nobody forced the Palestinians to vote for Hamas. They knew full well that Hamas was promising them that if they came to power, they would destroy Israel. And the Palestinians still voted for them.
So now the world wants Israel to step in and help the very people plotting her destruction?
I feel really sorry for Israel at present. To be condemned by the world for something, and then now being ordered to repeat that 'crime' just because it would suit the Palestinians.
It's disgusting.

There will never be peace in that region.
Even if we give them compensation, they will still want their land. I am glad Israel is a nation again. But, either way you look at it, the Palestinians were kicked out of their homes and thrown out to rot.
I think they all have a right to live there. There are people on both sides of the conflict who just want peace. They are trying to reach out to one another, but every car bomb that goes off and every time a Palestinian kid gets shot by an Israeli, peace seams more and more distant.
But, if Israel were to attack, they would need to do so in a secretive way. Like you say, they fight behind innocent women...Israel needs to get Massad, Israels version of the CIA, to track down terrorist leaders and kill them quietly. They need to start a propaganda war with Palestine. I am not saying that I want more violence to come to that region, but that is how I think Israel would win this fight for peace.
Re: Where would they go? Or, would we just kill them all off? You are very right in the fact that they preach evil, but that is more the reason to reach out to them on a peaceful level.
In a lot of my other answers, I support the war in Iraq. From the viewpoint of America, we must go after terrorists. But, from the viewpoint of someone who wants everlasting peace in this world, fighting only leads to more fighting. We must reach out to them with love. Not hate. If we drive them out of their land, they will just fight back with more bombings in Jerusalem.
Response Again:
Okay, Israel tries so hard to bring peace to that region, but it is never enough. What makes you think that occupying Gaza is going to help the situation. It won't. It is just going to make the Palestinians madder. More terrorists will join the cause, and Israel will be in turmoil.
Also, Israel is one of the smallest countries in the world. Iran is threatening to 'blow Israel off the face of the map'...I think they need all of their military helping defend an all-out invasion of Israel, like in 1967. They can't be bogged down in Gaza.

Ignoring the FACT that Hamas won the last elections and is the legal government of all of Palestine, I guess so.
The US poured $40 million dollars into our Quislings in Fatah and the Israelis backed thier attempted coup with Air and Artillery strikes. Firing missles into refugee camps appears to be something the Israelis are especially good at.
Israel is a danger to any free nation within range of it's WMDs

Not that I agree with what they are doing (which I totally don't), but civil wars happen, right? Civil wars lead "certain" nations to democracy.
However, that does not mean it is justified.
