. ... I was actually wondering if anyone has had to testify in court before?

I've been subpoenaed for this stupid sexual harrasment suit this chick filed at my old job against this really nice guy. She's a liar and I hope she doesnt win this case.

Say "Hallelujah." Oh, not that kinda witness.

Count to three each time before answering. That will give the other attorney a chance to formulate an objection if there is one. Maybe you don't need to answer if there is an objection. It will also give you a chance to put together an answer that not only answers the question, but says it in a way that YOU want it to come out. Oh, and tell the truth. The truth has many shades, but if you lie to help someone, you help nobody.

Don't be surprised if the whole thing is settled out in the hall before court starts. Lawyers hate the unknown of the courtroom. They are highly motivated to come to an agreement before they walk into court.

Yes I've testified in court. I work with emotionally and physically abused children, and have had to go to court to testify weather or not I feel that they should be returned to their family after being taken into state custody. Luckily all my work is written down in notes so most of the time it’s just my notes that they ask to look at, or I give testimony in private (for my safety and confidentiality purposes). It is very stressful when I have to appear in court with the child, family, and DHS workers and give my honest professional opinion; especially when the family has a history of violence.
I have also been part of the firing of my old supervisor for sexual harassment. Thank god he knew he was wrong and didn’t take it to court!
All I suggest is that if you end up having to testify (which many times people are subpoenaed and don’t ever take the stand) is to be as unbias as possible, state only facts unless otherwise advised by the attorney. Be sure you really KNOW the guy is innocent if that is your true opinion, because it is always possible for someone to be a nice guy and have just made a grave mistake. Also prepare yourself with specific examples of things about him that you think will support his case, by discounting things that he is being accused of. Good luck, hope things turn out ok.

I've given a couple depositions over the years. Basically its like testifying in court without the judge and courtroom. Attorneys from both sides are present as well as a court reporter. You do have to take the oath.
As an expert witness, I actually got paid for doing it.

I've never made it all the way to court before. I've given statements and it's all pretty easy.

I would say the best way to help is to not come off as though you don't like her. Try to sound as unbiased as you can, but think about your answers so they aren't being twisted around.

Unfortunately, nowadays sexual harassment suits are still everywhere and pretty often a bunch of nonsense. People are uncomfortable at work in a variety of situations so the best answer is to take legal action. It's a waste of so much and it degrades harassment suits that are legitimate.

The only time that I had to go to court was for my parents divorce(who should get custody of me).
Happy ending to that story is they got remarried after 15 years of divorce!
