I don't know how many times I have told someone I'm from New Mexico, and the reply is "You live in Mexico?" I've been to Mexico once, and I don't even speak spanish. I've also had people ask "Do you know what Nikes are? Do you listen to Britney Spears?" People seem to think that New Mexico is a deserted state that has no contact with the outside world.

I'm not saying that New Mexico is the best place ever, but it is important that people know we are part of the United States! What kind of Geography is being taught these days??

People do the same thing with Rhode Island. When I used to talk to people online they thought Rhode Island was a part of New York! No, not Long Island, Rhode Island, I'd say and they still didn't understand. I never thought Tennesee was part of Texas-- who teaches these people?

All you ought to do is seem at a map of america (I certainly have examine that some pupils won't be able to even discover, on a international map, the place the u . s . a . is) and spot that New Mexico is a state between Texas and Arizona. So i'm mentioning that New Mexico is maximum actually a state and a gorgeous state at that.

Yes. This is proves that Americans suck at geography. I bet a person half way around the world could correctly identify New Mexico on an United States map. Americans know little about their country and that's plain sad.

I hope I was any help to you.

I always say, Common sense is not too common. I have been all over the world and the ignorance of Geography by Americans is 2nd to none, well maybe just a bit above the Aborigines of Australia are the Hutu, or Nam-bi in Africa.

Yeah, you seem to have surrounded yourself with idiots.

But I get the same thing. I'm from West Virginia, and the first thing most people say is, "Near Richmond?"

I know how you feel. I'm from New England, and no one believes that New England is a state either. They ask me where Big Ben is, or do I know the queen.
By the way, do you get your allowence in pesos?

You need to hang around with smarter people.

EDIT: Then again, I get the same sort of stupid statements when I tell people I live in Texas. "Where's your cowboy hat?" "Do you ride horses?" "How many guns do you have?"
