The Bible and other religious texts were written so long ago that as user manuals (guidance codes) they must be out of date. I mean our policies and procedures at work get re-written almost daily as they respond to the changing environment, and whilst I believe that the general prinicpals still hold good, some of the specifics are so outdated that they no longer apply and only cause confusion to bigots.
So how about some of us get together and issue a fully revised version.

Palms - I know what you're driving at but I could always say that god inspired me and change my name to Charles Taze Russell and then you'd believe me wouldn't you?
Mind you I don't really want to make up my own religion and go shoving it down peoples throats like a double glazing salesman on a Sunday morning when I'm trying to catch up on my sleep.
And what's a JW doing in the LGBT section evangelising or just curious?

Palms again.
It's easy to press your buttons.
What's your IQ then?

Pray on this to Jehovah God. Do not ask imperfect mankind a question like this because you are bound to get an abundance of ridicule and imperfect answers esp. from those that do not love God or his Son, Jesus.
God inspired and directed 40 men to write all 66 books of the Bible and though many have tried to abolish, or wipe the Bible out, God said it would stand to times indefinite.
Mankind is going to continue his path to destruction, but to distort the Bible anymore than it has by false religious leaders meaning to destroy it and write it anew, this will not be the case and Jehovah will cause Armageddon to happen before this is done. Many will certainly try. They need to be very careful. The Bible was written aforetime for us today.
About the purest, most accurate, truthful Bible is that of "The New World Translation".
LOUWEEZ?? JW'S GO EVERYWHERE. THEY GO EVERYWHERE THERE IS THE NEED. YOU DON'T SEE ME CONDONING IMMORALITY DO YOU? DON'T WORRY, I HAVE NEVER LET A HUMAN DICTATE TO ME WHERE I CAN AND CANNOT GO TO SPREAD THE GOOD NEWS AND THAT INCLUDES HERE. I HAVE NO FEAR. ALSO, STOP DANCING AROUND THE SUBJECT WITH YOUR mention of changing your name, etc. That has absolutely nothing to do with Godly standards or the truth. See, imperfect humans who enjoy and want to continue living an immoral lifestyle can fool the fools, but the intelligent ones are not fooled and don't fall into that guilt snare.
It is the truth that will set you free; immorality will cost you your life. This is what God's word the Bible cautions all of us on. Do not fear the wicked one for even God created our enemies, not as enemies, but they chose to be. Even God will destroy them. Go therefore and preach the good news where there is the need.
Amen

The Biblical story of Adam and Eve is a metaphor adapted and completed reversed from a Babylonian myth within the epic of Gilgamesh. In the earlier mythology, the serpent is a wisdom deity who brings wisdom and culture to society. Ancient Jewish lore happens to have a couple of myths about how man's fall from grace had to do with gaining wisdom. Go figure.

Most defiantly congress should rewrite the bible. The bible is the source for all of the bigotry and hatred directed towards gay people. Hate speech is a crime and should never be accepted, even if it's in a 2000 year old book. These parts of the bible that self righteous thugs to repress the equal rights of others should be cut out of the bible now, and anyone who still caries copies of these texts should be thrown in jail until they agree to get rid of them!

It keeps getting re-written. Every new translation is actually a new re-write. That way they make it sound like it isn't being re-written, but it actually is. Clever, aren't they. And the average Christian falls for it. If it's in the Bible, it's the truth, NOT.

I would particularly like it if we left out the prohibition against boiling a goat in its mother's milk!
Seriously, the Hebrew Scriptures has 613 Laws. The bigots you refer to only know the ones they've heard on Talk radio.

what the point? you'll still have the bigots out there that will fight it. what the bible was to teach-love and acceptance-not many go by. they see it as oh adam and eve blah blah blah and not as god just wants us to love one another
would be interesting though to see what people would say and how they would react with a "revised" version wouldn't it be? good thought though

The Bible teachings and commandment and laws need not to be updated to make it easier for people to follow.

The Bible has been revised and rewritten so often, most modern versions bear no resemblance to the original texts anyway; so why not?
