game stop!

I tend to be a real cheapskate when it comes to buying video games. As others have said, the used games at Gamestop are worth checking out, especially since they occasionally have sales such as "Buy 2, get 1 free." The other obvious answer is to get used games from Amazon.com. Of course, if you order there, be sure to check the seller's rating. Sadly, some people on that site are scam artists. But if you see that they have a good rating, then it's worth a shot (also be sure to check how much they're charging for shipping, as sometimes the base price will be low, but they'll charge you an arm and a leg for postage.)
Some other people here mentioned using mom&pop stores, but I actually find them to be overpriced. Guess it depends on where you live. In my area, a game which normally costs about $10 in most stores might still be selling for around $20 at a mom & pop store. But again, it might vary from neighborhood to neighborhood. Worth looking into, though.

The best places I've found are "mom & pop" local used game stores. Game stop is more expensive than these places normally.

I don't know what's available in your area, but here we have 3 very good small shops that only sell used Games/DVDs/Video/CDs/etc. They aren't making a killing, but each one is run by a single local owner and they are able to undercut places like EB and Gamestop by a mile.
