I actually posted a question in the Religion & Spirituality section in which I asked the Muslims if they really cared if the Queen knighted Salman Rushdie. I pointed out to them the fact that if what the Muslim clerics said was true, then Rushdie would face the wrath of Allah on the Day of Judgment, so at the end of the day the knighthood shouldn't even matter. I got some interesting responses. Amazingly, many of the Muslims who responded said that they felt the same way I did and didn't really care about Rushdie being knighted. Some pointed out the fact that since Rushdie insulted a religion, for that reason alone he shouldn't be knighted. A more extreme Muslim then said that he didn't really care about Rushdie being knighted, but he felt that he still deserved to die. I got various responses, but I have to say that the ones who are really making a big deal about it are the extremist nutcases.
