I have a 1978 KZ650C with the dual front discs. The previous owner put a Honda(?) master cylinder on it made for a single front disc. As a result, the front brakes are very soft. I have found several used master cylinders for dual front discs out there (mostly Harley) and I am wondering if they will work with this bike. Thanks

You'll get the same results using a different (not made for that year and model) master cylinder.
Either the lever will feel to soft, or just a touch and lock up the brakes.

Another thing you'll have to consider is that most Jap bikes of that era used 7/8 inch diameter handlebars whereas Harleys have always used 1 inch bars.

Should be a pretty staight-forward swap. As long as it mounts correctly and works with the current setup, there's no reason it can't be interchanged.

Just make sure you test the setup completely before riding.
