yes
rhetoric is like musical chairs, it gets interesting whenever the tune stops, as long as you're expecting it to stop at any moment
And rhetoric is quite useful in many parts of life, so long as you're never completely depending on it at any given moment.
Rhetoric is fancy, boyant, sometimes fun
but it always has to land on something.

I live in a very active political county that votes Red but has a strong Blue streak as well. As a Split Party Ticket Voter, I hear it from both sides all the time. Hopefully some of the users from Y!A will become even more politically active and actually vote.
I thought I'd never say you look Grrrreat in that suit, but Chimpy, it Suits ya!

Not really, because I don’t normally encounter the extreme conservative positions that I see expressed on YA. I have however learned to appreciate the fact that some people think very differently in the political context. Some of their views astonish me but these views seem to be based on some unrealistic and emotional perception of current events.
I was also initially surprised to see conservative talking points repeated endlessly in questions and answers using the exact same language and reiterated for certain periods of time. I understand this better now since I’ve made an effort to read conservative blogs and listen to Rush, O’Reilly and Hannity in order to determine the sources of these stock phrases and ideas.

I was thinking about that last night. I have a lot of Liberal friends and family members. It's about 50/50 Lib/Con.
I am Conservative.
We don not call eachother names, or use hate toward eachother, like is here on Yahoo.
So, truly, I view Yahoo, as recreation, and realize most of what is spewed here is uneducated.
So, God I hope I don't take any of this to the "Real World"...

I agree, this place does tend to harden you, it's also an eye-opener as to the different perspectives that are displayed here.
I've always been interested in politics and used to be very involved in campaigns, etc. This is a lot of fun, although worrisome at times.

Chimpy you sure keep me busy. Be right back.
The President says that he wishes he had went to Yahoo, before the Presidential Debates he had with Al Gore. He says, that he would have had a better showing with all the intellect out there in yahoo to train him to beat that Slick, stylish, and internet creating over-achiever.

Absolutely; sharpens the perception, and I can cite facts in an argument at the drop of a hat. Regardless if it's political or not.
Definitely makes you grow a thick skin.
