Ive become an expert computer wrecker. After messing up some other files-n-stuff on my computer I choose to use the disk that came with my computer to fix things. It worked great for the problems I was having before but now I have no sound. I did this once before a long time ago and have forgotten how to fix it.

I don't think your a wrecker more than you own a junker in the 1st place Dells are crap and always will be. I've seen more people asking questions about how to fix this or that on a Dell. Dells are prone to failure. You need to install an audio driver.

Go to dell site and download the drivers for that sound card and after installing the drivers you need to update the windows xp updates to the latest ones this will again install some of the sound card patches also then only you will get the sound card very clear voice.

Wreck 1:At least have a look at the sound devices!
Start/Control Panel/System/Hardware/ Device Manager.
See the list and may be your sound card has a yellow mark
.Note down the model and download driver/s etc. sound devices
Wreck 2 : Start/Accessories/System tools/System Info.
Go down the menu on the left
sound devices
Problem Devices.
Wreck 3 : Download this program and print a list.

I would check the speakers and see if they are plugged in all the way. If that don't work then take it to someone who knows alot about computers.
