Quite simple.

Hilter did what every politician does. He promised to make life better and after WW1 times were pretty bleak in Germany. The people were hungry and unemployed. He was a charismatic speaker and provided hope.

In the beginning of his term he fulfilled his promises.. there was food and there was work.. the people were given reason to trust him. It was only as Hitler became more established did the horrors begin.

A classic example of power corrupting.. with incomprehensibly tragic results.

Germany was in a depression. The soldiers were unemployed and running in gangs throughout the country. Everyone was miserable and were ready to accept anything that would bring stability to the country. The Nazi Party used their Brown Shirts to stop hooliganism and it worked because all of the Brown Shirts were the former hooligans. The Party found a charismatic in Hitler and caused the people to obey the Party rather than the national interest.

If you were starving and a vibrant personality came along and told you that he would provide you with the necessities of life and restore your destroyed dignity, you would support that person no matter who he was or what he was going to do. Try spending a day with no money, no food, no heat and no smiles. That was the plight of the average German in the 1920s and early 1930s.

it grew to become into the time of the worldwide melancholy, Germans have been broke because of the remarkable inflation led to by utilising the Wiemar Republic, and having to pay reparations for WWI. The Treaty of Versailles punished Germany critically, and Hitler used those situations for his income. He gave wild speeches that raised the nationalistic thoughts of the German people. Italy grew to become into in a matching economic situation. There the terror of Communism introduced approximately the help of the Fascists the two used intimidation and ruthlessness with a view to do away with opposition.

Very much the same reason people support obama and Clinton today. they did not know better.
Seriously, after world war 1, the German people where forced to pay retributions for the war to England, France, and the other victors of the first world war. This debt, crippled the country, bit by bit, Hitler brought them out of this, put the country back on its feet, and gave the people a focal point for their anger, IE the Jewish community, much like the Democrats do today with the successful and high achievers. By blaming someone else, it helps you to feel better about your failures.

He was like an answer to their problems and he did many GOOD things, believe it or not. Germany was in a depression after WWI and Hitler began work programs funded by the government to rebuild cities, highways and modernize much of Germany. Our freeway system in the USA are modeled after Germany's. So he brought them through a very difficult time and did many good things for the German people. The defense related industry began blooming, new cities were created, many of the highways are STILL in use.

Hitler was acting as a "prophet" if you will.

Germany had just lost World War 1. And the Treaty of Versailles only worsened things.

The Treaty of Versailles, signed at the ending of the war, stated that Germany had to pay off all war-debts for european countries.

Germany became so far in debt, that their own form of currency in their home-country became inflated. (and many citizens found themselves using money to light kitchen stoves.)

The Germans experienced both total embarrassment and defeat after the war. Their economy went into rubble.

Then Hitler came along. Through his public speaking, and gestures, he was able to move and enrage the Germans. The Germans finally thought they found a true leader who is such a powerful speaker.

As Hitler grew more and more angrier towards the ones who put germany in the spot they were in (Allies & the Jews) The Germans began to grow more and more convinced that this was their leader.

And for that, they elected him as the full leader in 1933.

So basically, the Germans were weak, and vulnerable to anything. Any leader could have come in and done as Hitler did. It was not Hitler that convinced Germany. It was Hitler's promises and threats to other foreigners that impressed the Germans.

In Conclusion, The Germans saw Hitler as a "prophet" who would lead them out of the Great Depression in Germany and into Prosperity.

With a whole bunch of answers, I'll try to make my point and keep it short.
Hitler was VERY charismatic, and he had a plan to make Germany great. Politicians of the other parties were more like the Democrats in the US right now. They couldn't make up their mind, and were more interested in being politically correct than actually doing anything.

Disclaimer: This is not to say that Bush is a Nazi. Men like FDR, Lincoln, and Washington all stepped up when their country needed them. This they had in common with Hitler.

They supported him because Hitler was appealing to their national pride. Germany had a bad reputation after the first world war, and Hitler re-awakened pride in Germany. He was a very persuasive and charismatic speaker and people believed he was the one to make Germany great again. By the time they started to realize what Hitler was really doing, it was too late.

Because Hitler promised to ignore the Treaty of Versailles which called for huge reparations for Germany's role in WWI to be paid to various countries and because he promised to restore Germany to her "rightful" place as a world power and leader. The Germans were ready to hear such a message!! As a result an enormous support arose for the feelings of Nationalism preached by Hitler.
