I don't get it. Why would wrestling fans say that this Vince McMahon stroyline is a desperate way to get people to watch. Raw has been the #1 TV show on cable. Smackdown! is the most watched TV show on friday nights. They make over 500 million dollars on every pay-per-view. Double that for Wrestlemania. So why should stoop so low just to get ratings?

RAW is the top-ranked show on cable, but it is still expensive to produce and needs to increase its audience to generate more advertising dollars.
