There are many natural herbs and vitamins to help blood pressure. Garlic and cinnamon do help.

But I found that a vitamin called POLICOSANOL is specifically good at helping to remove plaque and lower blood pressure. There are 2 kinds--one made from rice and one made from sugar cane. Use the one from sugar cane, which has been found to have the same effects as leading advertised drugs out today, without any side effects that make these drugs so dangerous. The Rice version was found in studies to have no effect whatsoever.

I would suggest searching out a local health food store and asking questions. But be careful of having to buy a ton of extra vitamins. Also check out a natural or holistic doctor who can give you suggestions. They tend to examine a person from many perspectives, not just the physical.

Good luck.

I controlled my own BP for a number of years (when I was 20-30) by not eating any salt, (I used lemon juice, pepper, other seasonings). This means prepared food is usually off the list.

Garlic is well known for helping with bp also. Try the no odor kinds.

Keeping your weight within normal range and exercise 30 min a day.

I do stress, however, that uncontrolled high blood pressure is extremely dangerous. Never, ever stop taking bp meds. They have a 'rebound' effect, and your bp will go higher than it was before if you suddenly stop taking them.

High bp is serious and it can kill you. People die from uncontrolled high bp every year. So if you cannot control it
thru alternative therapy, you must commit to taking a bp pill every day. Your doctor will help you find the one that is right for you.

It was hard for me, but as the years went on, it became my only recourse. No one likes to take a pill every day, but this is a disease you cannot ignore.

What happens when one has high blood pressure (and this is a simplistic definition) is the blood vessels act like ballons, they swell up when pressure is high, then they go down when pressure is low (in weak areas of the blood vessels). Like a balloon you blow up several times. Then comes the day that the blood vessel explodes. This is called an anuerysm. It is dangerous, and it can and does kill people every year.

I am not trying to scare you, I just want you to know how serious this situation is, and leave it to you to use common sense in taking charge of the situation.

Good luck!

There are several things you can do, including dietary changes and supplements. Here's a good article:

Do not, repeat DO NOT use these as a substitute for high blood pressure meds if you are already taking them. Instead, the best thing to do is visit a naturopathic physician who will understand these supplements and changes better. Then, if you wish, coordinate with your MD (he/she will want to monitor your BP), and you MAY gradually be able to go off your meds.

Good luck

I have heard that cinnamon is a good thing to use to lower blood pressure and to help with diabetes. You can buy them in capsules or just use cinnamon and put it on top of different meals. Hope this helps.

There is no room for mistakes with this.
1) If overweight, lose weight.

2) Salt reduction helps a small number of people. Anything with sodium in it increases the problem for some people.
